From the M6 South (London, Birmingham)
Exit M6 J19 (Knutsford) at the roundabout, take 3rd exit A556 (Manchester). Follow A556 for 4 miles to roundabout, take 3rd exit M56 (Manchester) then follow M56 which leads onto the A5103. Follow the dual carriageway for 7 miles and signs for city centre. At the roundabout take 2nd exit following the signs for GMEX which leads you onto Medlock Street.

Take 2nd lights right onto Great Bridgewater Street (by the side of Bridgewater Hall), go through next lights (McDonalds on right) into Portland Street, go through 2 sets of lights, take 2nd left into Charlotte Street (opposite Yates Wine Lodge), 2nd right into George Street, at the end of George Street, turn right into York Street. The hotel is 100 yards on the left (up spiral ramp).

Good functional cheapish hotel right in the centre of Manchester with a great breakfast and good bar/late room service.

The hotel looked very run down from the outside but our room was very clean. There was a great choice for breakfast - full english breakfast, cereals, toast, fresh fruit. etc. It is a bit old fashioned but is very central so is suitable for a weekend away.. It is also only a 5 minute walk from the train station as well. Overall I would recommend the Jarvis Picadilly if you're looking for something central.

The Hotel staff were very friendly. The hotel was right in the centre of Manchester and good value. The hotel is going through a refurbishment.

Hotel staff very friendly, shame they didn't tell us breakfast was included, hotel security and staff 100% when there was a hotel fire alarm. chamber maid was outstanding in her attitude and service, nothing was a problem and she put herself out to be of service, she was able to fit herself around our requirements.

The hotel is clean enough, obviously it was splendid once, but is now shabby around the edges. It is need of some TLC to bring it back to it's former glory. The hotel is excellently positioned for my wife's shopping expeditions.

Nice clean hotel, but requires updating to compete with the newer hotels in Manchester city centre. The location of the hotel is excellent, when used as a base for shopping.

We found the Jarvis Hotel in Manchester an ideal weekender, great central location. Our room, a standard double needed a little more space but as we were not spending much time in the room it was fine for a sight seeing weekend. Everything worked that should have, all the staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was par for the course. We were not disappointed and would stay there again.

Extremely well place in the heart of Manchester, the hotel is big but not impersonal. Very friendly staff who are helpful. Restaurant was a bit dead in the evening, but the staff were extremely attentive and gave excellent recommendations. Breakfast is good despite getting busy. Parking was an issue but there was building work ongoing during my stay at the end of 2005 so this may be a non issue now. All in all very happy.
