Britannia Hotel Birmingham

Receptionist was not welcoming and queried our reservation. It took three phone calls to get a towel brought to the room. However I have to say the buffet breakfast was excellent.

Horrible room, very poor customer service by all except receptionist. Kitchen tried to charge me £18 cash for my pre-paid breakfast, cleaners let themselves into my room at 8.30 am when I was still in bed, shower flooded the bathroom due to faulty plumbing, no toiletries in bathroom. I am very disappointed by the standards of what should be a top class hotel. I have stayed in nicer youth hostels. I made my complaints clear to the receptionist while the manager was only feet away, yet he didn't respond in any way and faced away from me the whole time. Not good enough.

Our friends'' room (room 219) was smaller than ours, the bathroom being extremely small. It was not possible to lie down in the bath, merely to sit in it. The hotel is situated on a noisy main road and we were unable to close the windows because it was extremely hot and there was no air con. This meant we were awoken at a very early hour. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb. Yes I would recommend the hotel as good value for money.

Britannia Hotel is located in the heart of Birmingham surrounded by the major stores, designer shops, and jewellery market and shopping arcades. The famous Chinese and Balti restaurants are a short walking distance, as are the cultural and civic centres. Nightlife and entertainment are on the doorstep. New Street main line station is opposite, with quick access to the National Exhibition Centre and the main line networks.

From New Street Station
On exiting the platform go through barriers up escalators turn left at the top follow the exit down the ramp turn right and cross the road we are next to Primark Store.

From Airport
Driving take the A38 following signs for Birmingham City - on entering city follow signs for New Street Station and you will see signs for NCP Car Park there are 2 exits Bull Ring and Navigation Street. Navigation Street on exiting turn left till you come to a ramp on your right cross over the road and the hotel is next to Primark. Bull Ring - follow signs for New Street which is only 2 minutes walk again Primark is next door to Hotel.
