Apollo Hotel Birmingham

Slightly dated decor and carpets etc.., but clean with friendly enough staff. Ideal location - bus stop into the city centre is almost outside and only costs a pound (£1.00). Don't be put off by the 'buffet breakfast'. In reality this is far superior to many served-at-table breakfasts I've had in the past, at supposedly superior establishments! Absolutely fine for a short stay - check other reviews if staying for more than just one night.

Staff very very friendly and helpful. Room while basic was recently refurbished and clean. Would recommend as a cheap and pleasant place to stay.

I feel the breakfast should be on till 10am as not everyone has to be up early.

Very surprised by this hotel. Didn't expect it to be so good. Room, although small was spotless. Decent facilities. Bed a bit too soft for me but wife liked it. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location for popping into city. Excellent breakfast included in room price. Highly recommend and intend to go there again.

We booked the hotel primarily because all our chosen hotels near to the centre of Birmingham were either fully booked or astronomically expensive. We were pleasantly surprised at the standard of rooms and facilities. All rooms looked as if they were newly decorated. Breakfast was included in the price and was quite adequate. Parking was free. A very good value hotel with a good Italian restaurant next door.

Receptionist immediately recognised that one of the party was disabled and as lifts out of order, found a room on ground floor, which was greatly appreciated. Breakfast very good, with lots of choice. However, Room Service not available during the evening! Request for iron & ironing board had to be chased up. Overall, acceptable.

The Apollo's location simply could not be better, situated within easy walking distance of leading night clubs and casinos, just a few minutes from Birmingham City Centre, Birmingham New Street Station and within easy reach of the International Convention Centre. Yet, only a few miles from some of the most scenic and historic countryside in England.
